Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
I've lost 80 lbs, but I attribute it to non-kratom reasons. I quit taking certain medications with side effects of weight gain and dramatically reduced my food intake. However, around the same I began to regularly take kratom. I guess I never thought about the kratom being in any way responsible for the weight loss, but I suppose it's possible.

My brother lost quite a bit of weight but that’s because he refuses to eat during the day because he says the Kratom won’t work.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
I've lost about 25 - 30 pounds since I started using kratom in 2016 (going from an "overweight" to "normal" BMI). I think it's an indirect effect. I take kratom for chronic pain relief, it works well, and I exercise much more when I don't hurt. Was pretty sedentary before kratom, now I get an hour or so of brisk cycling in almost every day.

Yes. Kratom is known to be a diuretic, so as you urinate more frequently it will cause you lose water weight.
In my experience, it's also worked as an appetite suppressor.
Be sure to remember to drink lots of water ( I usually recommend a ratio of one glass of water to one kratom beverage or dose) in order to avoid dehydration and I always recommend that you have some food in your stomach when enjoying kratom.
Hope this helps!

I have a tendency to do this too. I wonder sometimes if kratom raises metabolism; even at low doses the 'reds' can be quite stimulating. I really do think that kratom helps with depression so, yeah, it can be helpful if you need to get up and move also. I do feel like it is a natural appetite suppressant.Feerndad wrote:My brother lost quite a bit of weight but that’s because he refuses to eat during the day because he says the Kratom won’t work.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
Both me and my mother gained weight after starting Kratom. Kratom gives me the munchies big time.
I'm working on getting rid of the weight I gained nearly 5 years ago
(working at Cheesecake Factory makes diets so hard
). But with Kratom I am much more active and my diet has improved and I drink tons of water. I really think I just need to increase the intensity of exercise. I used to play basketball 5 days a week for a few hours a day and work out at the gym. I stopped playing a few years ago for various reasons.
I want to get a bike but Covid has made me a little cautious with spending, but I really need and want to get back in shape and the investment is worth it when it comes to health. Anyone have suggestions for indoor equipment like a treadmill or exercise bike, or what's the best machine to use to that is the least impacting on the body? My mom would like to exercise but treadmills are hard on her knees... I have space in the basement

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
Interesting topic, that I have wondered about. So I’ve been burning 5 years now. Always been somewhat slender even before. On kratom I have amazing appetite and eat ALOT. My fiancé is baffled how I eat so much and gain no weight. Also I have no problems at all passing stools. So I’ve wondered if I just have a real fast metabolism plus active job that makes me stay fit, or maybe kratom plays a part. Dunno!

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
I definitely think that kratom works as an appetite suppressant for me, and it also helped me transition to a 80% vegetarian diet right around the beginning of COVID; I lost around 8 lbs in the process. I'm not heavy, but I did want to lose a few, so I was happy about that. I'd also started exercising more.
That being said, I also find that like a lot of other substances that tend to suppress appetite (e.g., nicotine, pseudophedrine, cocaine, various amphetamines - none of which I use anymore but did when I was younger), Kratom, especially the more energizing varieties, can raise my blood pressure quite a bit. I actually just discovered this a few weeks ago during a physical and was bummed, because I already take meds for my BP, which tends to run high. I did some research, and found that Kratom seems to lower BP for many and raise it for a few; I wasn't able to find any great studies on this so I'm not certain. But it was interesting to me that Kratom had the potential to raise BP since it did sometimes share qualities (albeit in a much more subtle way) with those other substances and also lowered my appetite. I need to be careful with it, though, esp fast greens and whites I guess.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
When I was trying to lose 80lbs, exercising every day only helped minimally. It wasn't until I stopped each so much that I started dropping weight questions quickly. You really can't do only one of two have real success, but if only do one, you'll see best results if you skip the exercise and simply don't eat so much. That's the secret of weight loss - stop eating so damn much. It really isn't that hard. And as was mentioned above, I space out my meals and doses.. I'll only eat three hours before dosing and three hours later, so I usually dose three times, six hours apart. Same with meals, but staggered of course. So that helps with not wanting to snack throughout the day, I keep a strict schedule knowing the kratom will be rendered useless if there's food sitting in my stomach.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
For sure. I used to run long distance, and no matter how much I ran, it really did not have too much effect on my weight, mostly because running became an excuse for me to eat even more. At the beginning of this year, I started doing intermittent fasting (I only eat between noon-8:00pm or so). That was also around the time I started learning more about kratom and getting much better product, and I really believe that the appetite suppressant qualities of the leaf made it easier for me to do so, and to eat less overall, even during the eight hours per day that I do eat.Playerpiano72 wrote:When I was trying to lose 80lbs, exercising every day only helped minimally. No one technique works for everyone, but this was my experience too. I was an exercisaholic. 5 miles racewalking every day, working with weights, cardo jams. And yet I could never gain significant muscle because of my genetic body type. For the past 8 years I have done SO much less of that. At the same time, my appetite is not as voracious, so I weigh the same as I did excercising but I don't have to constantly eat (with all the burping, gas, everything that comes with over-consumption). It's good to get some activity but we don't all need to join Crossfit (Oh Lawd!). Eating less (and eating less junk) is the routine I am enjoying.
But I think that it's especially hard right now: Stress eating was always a 'thing' but now it is reaching record proportions. Stress drinking too. Gyms closed down, group sports discouraged, and - of course - the paralyzing fear that keeps us glued to our computer chairs watching Netflix and play video games.
Maybe we can try to understand that this too will pass. Vaccines are on the way. HOPEFULLY Biden's administration will put the hammer down on the predatory behaviors that banks. landlords, universities and all of the other 1% OWNERS have used on us. I Biden won't respond, we need to go back into the streets and DEMAND that the labors of our bodies and minds be respected.
Sorry; didn't mean to make this a political rant. But the BODY is also the body POLITIC.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
When I quit drinking beer, and started taking doctor prescribed tramadol, I lost approximately 45 lbs in 6 months. Didn't do anything else diet or exercise wise.
After I quit the tramadol and started taking kratom as a replacement, the weight came back.
So as far as kratom, I haven't noticed any particular weight loss directly stemming from the kratom itself. Probably because I have a really bad midnight snack habit lol.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
when i first started taking kratom, i took way too much way too often, and i never eat, and i lost soo much weight. Like i looked like i was struggling with a meth problem or something.
cut back my kratom doses, and started eating more regularly. now im looking normal and healthy.
I have found that if your one of those people that thinks kratom doesn't work if you eat, its probably a placebo type of thing. If your really worried about it, take your kratom and wait 2-3 hours then eat. or just wait an hour or so after you eat to take kratom. it may take longer to kick in, but it will still be there. as long as you don't stuff your stomach every time you eat, things should move along pretty quickly. and drink water! ( this i am still horrible at though i must say)

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
Weird. I didn’t get a single email notification from this post.
Thanks for all the responses. I’m glad I’m not alone. I’ve lost 40 pounds over the last two years and I was in the upper range of normal before. I definitely have much less of an appetite and eating kills my burns. I should probably do a better job spacing my doses out and stick to a regimented meal plan...it’s just been hard to care enough to this year. But, ha, now going into the holidays and realizing my family is going to think I’m a meth head is starting to make me care.

My family definitely thought I was on meth or heroin again. Just make sure to eat a couple times a day at least. And if your burn Gets killed it’s okay, you can just dose again later. Unless your heavily dependent and need it to not withdrawal or something, and if that’s the case you should definitely ween down lol

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
Probably 5lbs or so, nothing major. Kratom dosing does make me plan/wait to eat sometimes, and kratom itself is kind of like a small snack (very small at 5-6g doses ha-ha). Starving yourself for a better dose isn't something I consider worth doing, but waiting an hour, or eating an hour early because of kratom isn't a big deal. On the bright side - kratom does not give ya the munchies, so there's that eh.

I have for sure. It definatly increases my endurance, and running/workouts have doubled since adding it to my workout. And I also eat less as a result. Less urge to snack in-between meals ect...

For me, kratom is not an appetite suppressant, more on the stimulant side. I try to eat less and schedule my doses against my meals, but it can be slightly difficult.

That first year going into two. Definitely.
That changed. I attribute that to winter disrupting my mojo especially into year 3.
I stopped bolting out to go on walks all the time. I wish I would have tried "jump starting" instead of desk indulgence.
I get alot out of desk time but movement is better.
I got... you know,comfortable.

I gained weight after starting kratom. Unclear if it's due to kratom or other factors.
Generally I find kratom increases my appetite. I also work out less. I think because I'm in a more relaxed state and going to the gym requires more motivation.

Re: Have you lost weight since taking kratom?
I think it depends on the leaf. I lost weight when I was indulging on fast to mid whites and greens only. These definitely suppress my appetite. Now bring on the slow and heavy reds, different story. They, just like weed, make me want to eat the whole kitchen sink.
