What to expect

Beginning Kratom use tomorrow for opiate withdrawal, specifically stamp bags of heroin. I'm curious as to how I'll feel & how much of the withdrawal I'll still have. Will the kratom just take the edge off or nearly eliminate it? Idk if it'll be similar to being on methadone or subs where you feel ok physically after finding the proper dose. I don't want to keep taking more trying to get it to do more than possible.

And does it cause any precip withdrawal?? Idk if waiting until morning is enough or if I need to further into first.

Please tell me what your experience was like. And how long did you take it before quitting it too?

From personal experience, I used kratom to get off prescription painkillers and had practically no withdrawal. Of course this varies from person to person and I also did a controlled taper off the prescription meds.

I’ve never been on H, so I can’t give you any specific advice. I would guess you will still have some amount of withdrawal symptoms since it’s a very potent drug, but kratom really does work wonders for getting off opiates.

There are some here who have gotten clean with the help of kratom, and have helped their loved ones get clean, so hopefully they will chime in here.

For me , using kratom for withdrawal did not completely take away the symptoms , but it made them much more bearable . It was still uncomfortable but helped a lot . I have heard from others though that they had fairly painless transitions though . It was in the weeks and months after I was completely off opiates that I was able to experience the full range of what kratom offers and honestly I would say that has been more helpful for me than simply what it can do for acute withdrawals.

I was off and on heroin and other opiates for 20 years, I went through withdrawls a bunch of times and they are terrible and everything , but the real problem for me was that I always went back . Even after a couple of years clean, and it just seemed like an uphill battle all the time, like fighting it in my brain even when I was clean. . you asked; how long did it take before quitting kratom? I quit after a couple of months , and then I was on probation to where they threatened to test and so I didn't take anything a year or so . But , in the long run I found that I just function better in general with kratom as a regular part of my lifestyle. in short, I am still taking it fairly regularly and that doesnt bother me , especially considering the alternatives. I quit drinking alchohol too.

I don't know what to tell you about how long to wait. I would wait as long as you can, but if there is anything like precip WD it will be minor and it won't last very long. Hopefully someone else can answer that. I say the more sick you are the better - but, thats easy for me to say from here : ) Personally I think it does have some mechanism similar to naltrexone, but I have mostly experienced it from the other side, where the pleasurable effects of opiates (and alcohol) are diminished .

What you said about not wanting to take more to get it to do more than possible is smart. It doesn't work like bupe or methadone . you can't keep taking more to try and hit where you were with H . there's a ceiling and it might feel like a low ceiling at first. It will definitely get better though .

What you are doing has worked for me and a lot of other people and I am confident it can work for you too .

Thank you both for taking the time to reply, I truly appreciate it. Day 1 was a success! I woke up about 17 hours ago and began kratom an hour later. My boyfriend and I are on this journey together and had barely any withdrawal today. Normally we would have had to take xanax throughout the day & been utterly exhausted. I did take two 1 hour naps, and getting ready to go bed now. There was hardly any cold chills or sweats, and no RLS. The most surprising thing was my appetite, I usually fast during this process.
Our goal is to get through this with what we consider natural products: kratom, melatonin, and weed. Sometimes day 2 & 3 is worse but we feel confident we can get through this. If we do have to take xan's it'll only be a few days at most. As long as we we're moving forward I'll be thankful.
The biggest thing I learned today was there is an incomparable difference between kratom at a head shop & what I got online. When I tried the shop version it did not work. I purchased a variety of 3 red and 2 greens from Benji's Botanicals, today we used Red Hulu. I must add this site has been a huge help, the best resource I came across
The melatonin is kicking in so I'm off to sleep. I will try to remember to check back with another progress report.
