hi guys, curious if anyone has experienced or knows anyone this has happened to. basically i cut back use drastically and now i'm super sensitive and get really sick if i'm not careful.

i was taking 15gpd daily, morning noon and evening, for about 3 years and never once got sick. at most i got the wobbles a few times that only lasted for an hour or so and then i was fine. back in the fall i decided i should cut back and stop daily use. i tapered down over several weeks to where i was just taking about 2.5 grams once a day. then i jumped off. only took about a week off and then started taking 5 grams twice a day on the weekends and sometimes an extra day that week. then one time i got violently ill and was jacked up for a couple days. had to call out of work. figured it was a fluke. then maybe 6 weeks later, same thing. more days of calling out of work. i've had food poisoning before and this is what it felt like. nauseous, weak and feeling like major crap. i've been trying to pay more attention and taking it even less frequently and lower doses but it happened a 3rd time recently.

wondering if anyone is familiar with this phenomenon and / or has any idea what's going on. i've tried switching strains / vendors and the same thing happened, so i'm confident it's not the kratom. when it started i had been using the same stuff for a while too with no issues.

Do you take any other medications (prescription, natural, or otherwise)?

Do you drink alcohol?

Initially, I was going to suggest it's most likely a bad batch but you said it's happened with multiple vendors. So that rules that out.

Also, very uncommon but worth noting that sometimes the human body simply develops a sudden allergy to a substance. You may have been okay your whole life eating tomatoes for example, and then suddenly find you're allergic to them one day. This happened to me with fabric softener. Used it all the time then one day my load of laundry sent me to the ER with a bad allergic reaction.

Take an antihistamine with your dose sometimes people get very sensitive to histamine release and all opioids cause histamine release. Try either 25mg of benadryl or 50mg of hydroxyzine 10 mins before you take your dose. Also sounds like possibly a bad batch I would order kratom from somewhere else and throw that shit away.

For one, I wouldn't be able to jump off, take zero kratom and jump up to a dose of 5g. Perhaps you have increased your dosage too fast?

Also, perhaps the particular kratom you're taking right now isn't jiving well with you. My suggestion is a low dose of something new, from a quality vendor. I don't know who your favorites are, but if there is any chance you take headshop kratom, or something you can buy in a smokes store, abort mission.

Another thought is that kratom isn't making you sick. Maybe see your doctor and don't mention kratom so they will take you seriously and actually look into the issue without dismissing it. Get a Covid test, just in case. It can emerge with symptoms in some that are not respiratory in nature, but more with gastrointestinal problems.

As they say, "look for the horse and not the zebra" and I'd say, you are possibly raising your dose too fast. I would start with very small doses and work your way up until you find your new 'sweet spot.' Try different kratom. You may have developed a bad association with it and the prospect of taking it is provoking some anxiety.

Clean slate. Start over. And the only time kratom turns on you is when it comes from a sketchy headshop. Also, remember how important it is to drink plenty of water with kratom.

Yes on antihistamines and my partner also swears by Tums - not sure why but has worked like a charm for him. Good luck!

Respectfully, this is where my money is. I'm pretty low dose- if I took 5g's, I'd throw up and fall asleep. With a t-break? Well, I'd also throw up and fall asleep, but I had started typing this line so I'm sticking with finishing the sentence.
