What is everyone making of the FDA's latest actions?

Post by WarmFoothills »

Regarding the products seizure in Florida, and then the Acting Director's negative tweets? The AKA is calling this a way to enact a "de-facto" ban by claiming all kratom is adulterated and then using that justification to seize more kratom. Thoughts?

Here's an article I found about it - https://www.naturalproductsinsider.com/ ... upplements

Well, looks like the FDA is trying to crack down again, although I highly doubt this is going to go anywhere. Just like the last dozen times they've pulled this crap. Don't panic buy, people.
Dr. Scott Gottlieb, a former commissioner of FDA who resigned in 2019, said in a tweet that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) prevented FDA “from moving forward with the scheduling of kratom, and I’m convinced it’s fueling the opioid addiction crisis.”
This big pharma stooge is so out of touch and/or lying to please his overlords. There are literally thousands of stories of people using kratom to QUIT hard drugs and alcohol. We have stories here, our subreddit and the big kratom subreddit are full of stories, and other kratom groups online are full of stories. He is lying or is just straight up oblivious.
“FDA's recommendation” to schedule kratom’s constituents “was rejected b/c of embarrassingly poor evidence & data, and a failure to consider overall public health,” Giroir tweeted in response to Gottlieb. “If #Kratom is fueling opioid addiction, prove it; and then @HHS_ASH should reconsider.”
Finally, some sanity from at least one government agency. Giroir is the former assistant secretary of health and was against scheduling kratom due to poor evidence from the FDA.

Anyway, interesting news, let's see how it plays out.

All they'd havta do to kill/cripple it is make un-mailable like they are doing with the vape stuff. Hopefully they'll lose interest and go chase a different boogeyman soon.

What is fueling the heroin and fentynal crisis is heroin and fentynal.

They are just pushing people closer to doing heroin. I have chronic pain, my partner has chronic pain, and my poor father is suffering horribly. We are all in pain for chronic illnesses, respectively, Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome and it's comorbidities; my partner, for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and a host of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, and my father, who has EDS, had over 20 surgeries, and his bones are ground to ash.

They are not prescribing much, if any, pain medicine after surgeries now. I receive zero pain medicine. My partner has a small amount of pain medicine prescribed and the pain makes her bedbound. And my father didn't heal from his last shoulder and knee replacements because the pain medicine was a little to none.

None of us are really living. Our lives are passing us by. Without kratom, I feel that I have two choices: go to street drugs or euthanasia. I am sorry to be so bleak and depressing, but this is realness. It isn't an opiate crisis, it is a heroin crisis. They need to shut up. I don't know a dang doctor that is willing to prescribe pain medicine and I think my nearly bedbound partner is going to end up cold turkey, which will induce a Lupus flare. The doc says it is too risky & doesn't want to lose her license.

She is barely hanging on, and has never once exceeded the prescribed dosage of medication (it is low). My father's is pathetically low. I couldn't even get medication when my KTS resulted in a complication, cellulitis, from a gaping, split akin fetid wound on my birthmark. Doctors aren't prescribing shit. Kratom has saved my life. If that is fueling the opiate crisis, then they are going to see a real opiate crisis in my future.

I'm just so deeply unhappy. First, their utter mismanagement of handling Covid cost me the life of my uncle. Frightened doctors are tearing down the quality of life of my loved ones. Now they want to take kratom away. Is there ever any good thing that happens in this world anymore? You know, no one gives two turds about people living in chronic pain, but if we were addicts, there would be resources for us. I get that addiction is a disease, but I have a disease too, and I (and my two favorite people in the world) have been abandoned. No one cares.

If they mess with kratom, it will be the last straw.

I agree with every word. Its pretty obvious they just want everyone to suffer. No opiates, kratom is taken away, what option is there after that? Asprin? I thought EVERYONE knew that you shouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight, and thats precisely what aspirin is to chronic pain patients. Its fucking BULLSHIT, and its really as simple as that.
And you are correct, they ARE pushing people to use street drugs. And then die, or feed into THAT vicious cycle until they do, which includes jail, rehab, etc. All the while with a fucking shit-eating grin mumbling about how its for our own good. Oh its for "our own good" you say? Well then, saviors of all mankind, why is it you can't even get WATER at the store these days that's free of poisons? Maybe focus on THAT? Naw...lets keep fighting cheap, effective natural remedies and being "convinced" there, $$$$$cott. Past FDA head, now on the board of Pfizer. So predictable. Such bullshit. I don't want a knock on the door from jackbooted government thugs (it will scare the SHIT out of my daughter,) so I won't say what these pricks ABSOLUTELY deserve. You don't fuck with people's KIDS, man, and that is EXACTLY what they are doing.

How about they look into actual drugs that are legal being sold and injected , ie. Tianeptine! I almost fell down that rabbit hole and thanks to this leaf I didn’t end up loosing limbs or on opiates. It’s madness. There are drugs out there with a much higher potential for abuse or misuse, as well as risk for serious illness or injury - not “constipation” as listed for Kratom. Injecting tianeptine can severely affect your cardiovascular system, and the withdrawals are horrible from many many accounts all over.

I don’t care for the AKA and it’s mission to shut down vendors that are legit, but they have a good document looking at the millions of healthy Kratom users (i think they estimated 10-15 million) never mind the GDP and jobs created from this industry in the billions.

I honestly think at this point people are on their own, and every ones family members need to sit behind table and come up with idea's how to survive. If you were enemy's with family member's its time to apologies and seek backup, family is the last straw to back you up so best to be on good terms no matter how much trouble their is. I agree on the water in bottle not clean i measured a bunch of brands, ppms reach to 300!!! thats unheard of. The well water is under 30 ppms and its good ppms not the bad once. well has minerals our bodys need. unless you live in mountains and know fresh source of spring water , then your lucky, or very expensive water filter system needed if live in big citys. Crazy part people pay good money for unclean water, that stuff should be free, unless its the labels you paying for. I often buy a bottle of Fiji water if iam not home and traveling. You can also refill Fiji bottle with spring or well water , maybe with some lemon juice. Kratom does no harm and everyone knows it does tons of good, to mess with it is just showing you a big middle finger and how much they care.

If any of them need work, and your reading this, how about you start removing yellow 6, red 40 that is in many many products, if you google that first answer you get is cancer. So stop printing pink cancer labels begging for money and get to work to do something about it especially for your kids who will live after you eating this shit.

Also many foods containing Aspartame should be only consumed 18+ years of age, i already noticed many stores stopping to carry bubble gum. Maybe people becoming aware of aspartame ingredient and its 50 side effects.I wish we still had those old 25 cents bubble gums made with real sugar cane, only place you can find that sometimes is in Dolor General stores.

hey thanks for Article, E... I see AKA is fear mongering again on Reddit  - No its not going anywhere, people should understand FDA does not have Legal authority to BAN anything!!

Saw some of that Twitter debate, last week, between Gottlieb and Brett Giroir. Yes he's very good... 8-). Kratom should ride right along behind Cannabis, there's a new Federal Bill to legalize Hemp CBD immediately... AKA has done good, we all know that, mainly in Red states responding to local bans... And responding to FDA. Otherwise, their KCPA attempt to "regulate" kratom for Big Kratom companies is not a good way to spend people's money. To those who donate to AKA, why hurt small vendors ??
Banned on Reddit: KratomVendors is now on SAIDIT!
Please check out my current Auctions/ Sales on MM Trading Post! I'm also on MeWe/ Saidit/ Reddit. Thanks!

Gottlieb needs to crawl back into his hole and mind his own business.

I could not believe the news when I saw they seized that kratom in Florida. It's legal there so what the hell??? I've never heard of the company they seized it from, but dammit they are asking for it by calling their product "El Diablo" and the "Devil's Kratom". Sounds like head shop stuff?

The war on kratom is not over, and I cringe every time I see some smart ass on Reddit talking about it getting them high. One poster was talking about one of our beloved vendors' products getting them high as a kite. I had to call them out on it. They think they're being cute but that's the kind of shit that WILL get it banned.

I had the hardest time finding pure sugar gum when I gave up aspartame. I think Juicy Fruit might be? I dunno. I gave up on looking. 🤘

you know, it seems like you can only get it online like moodandmind.com and other organic websites. I told one person to stop headaches they need to stop chewing gum everyday that contains aspartame, that helped them out. What people don't realize who have headaches a lot is the little things that add up over time that they need to be aware of, food ingredients should be number #1 and wifi / EMF should be #2, air fresheners and or area's that are small spaces should be looked at, open window if have too. Walking in the park everyday is a good idea or places where lots of tree's. Once the little things are taken care of, you dont have to worry when it will hit the pipers.

It's all so much bull it seems everyday now there's a new news article a new push to make people think how evil our leaf is.It does scare me and makes me sad for every one of us that's found this leaf there's 50 more afraid to try it.I t breaks my heart that people who need opioid s can't get them.I am stocking up but I have been since I started sadly.I lost faith in Drs when my 84 yr old mil had to travel over a hundred miles to see her pain Dr for meds she'd been on for half a century. I f only she'd been on suboxone 3 new clinics opened in our small town.BS Also F**k Gottlieb

Reason this will never really stop is because big pharma looks at those who use kratom as lost sales. They know a lot of people that use kratom do not need much ,if any, painkillers ,because kratom help's them enough to avoid popping 6+ addictive pills a day. So seeing as how big pharma owns soooo many in the gov, they will never stop. Thing's will probably get worse on a consistent level until they get their way. I'm not saying tomorrow it'll happen, just that they will never stop until it does.

This is at the heart of it all. They also realize kratom is cutting into their Methadone and Suboxone profits as well. The only way this stops is to get corporate money out of politics, and repealing Citizens United would be one step in that direction. Another would be to stop supporting politicians that accept corporate donations and super pacs.

There already was a bill to legalize cbd hemp federally.
It was called The Farm Bill. TRUMP signed it into law years ago.

"Hemp was legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill, but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has still not finalized a process to allow derivatives such as CBD to be used in consumable products like foods, drinks and dietary supplements. A new Senate bill introduced on Wednesday seeks to change that, however."
