WHO announces pre-review of kratom for international drug treaties
From Twitter:
https://twitter.com/TransformDrugs/stat ... 13760?s=19
Hoping there are people with some knowledge on the subject. Anyone familiar with the process/timeline for something like this? If they decide to eventually move it to scheduling and are successful I gotta imagine that shuts down international shipping, regardless of legal status in individual countries right?

It looks like they started a similar review of cannabis in 2016. It looks like in that case the process went through at least 2020. They are also doing pre review of Phenibut from your link. I don't have much faith in WHO as they have big money ties to Gates Foundation NIH ect. During the covid pandemic they continually played down legacy drugs that seem to be effective, but made no one money. Mainly Ivermectin and to a lesser extent Hydroxychloroquine.

Regarding hydroxycholroquine (plaquenil), studies didn't show it as effective for use with covid. Also from pubmed: Moderate certainty evidence suggests that HCQ, with or without azithromycin, lacks efficacy in reducing short-term mortality in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 or risk of hospitalization in outpatients with COVID-19Kalico wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 12:46 pm It looks like they started a similar review of cannabis in 2016. Regarding the kratom review, I don't know what to think just yet. My knee-jerk reaction is to be worried and afraid but I don't want to spread FUD either, we have enough of that already. So I shall force myself to remain cautiously hopeful that the review won't lead to it becoming a scheduled substance.

Re: WHO announces pre-review of kratom for international drug treaties
That is a meta analysis, that does not make it meta data lol.
meta analysis is a review of information from multiple studies, and that link you gave is a horrible cherry picking. Consensus science says hydroxychloroquine is not the right drug to use. This is why nobody is using it anymore. This is why when Trump and other world leaders got COVID, they did not take it. Your own link ranks hydroxychloroquine as one of the least effective drugs used.
Anyway, you talking about WHO being tied to the Gates Foundation pretty much tells me that you're a right wing conspiracy theorist. So I'm not going to bother getting into this too much.
On topic: The WHO does not have legislative powers. As we saw last year, nations don't really listen to what WHO has to say. The committee doing this review (EDCC) is looking at kratom for its risks in addiction/dependency specifically. They will look over available information and publish a report on their findings.

Since you seem knowledgeable can you explain which studies are missing? I thought this covered all published studies which which would be meta data. It lists 265 studies with good and bad outcomes. My original comment was mainly about Ivermectin. For some reason responses seem to focus on hydroxychloroquine.StringThing wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 1:13 pmThat is a meta analysis, that does not make it meta data lol.

Not sure how concern about corporate and ultra rich influence on global policy turns someone into a right wing conspiracy theorist. Seems like your going all out ad hominem and straw man for no reason. I was asking a reasonable question about the data.

Re: WHO announces pre-review of kratom for international drug treaties
It does seem that way for sure. I mean, what even IS a conspiracy theorist anyway? Someone who lacks trust in the government? Really, that should be EVERYONE, because the government is grimy. If I say "Bin Laden didn't do 9/11 based on piles of evidence," does that make me a conspiracy nut or a REALIST? So my man here just goes along with whatever they tell him on the news and even though Ivermectin has been REALLY effective in every country besides USA, I guess sketchy juice is a better treatment? Seriously though, what's with giving the population a substance that kills EVERYTHING in animal testing? Got something snappy for that question or is that a conspiracy as well?

You are promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory.
That's all I'll say on the matter. Like I said, I don't argue with conspiracy theorists, and this is off topic anyway.

At this point I'll guess this is just deflection and another straw man attack. I don't know for sure, but on the surface I haven't seen any evidence it's not complete, and I don't have the time or resources to verify the data or check the statistical analysis. claiming it's inaccurate without basis is on par with Q'Anon.

Demonizing the Gates Foundation goes right along with Republican anti-science attacks on Dr Fauci and the science community in general... and the move by Traitor Trump to pull out of WHO - which was fortunately reversed by Biden - as StringThing points out, hydroxychloroquine / Ivermectin are NOT and have never been, a consensus choice for treatment of COVID here in the USA...
Ivermectin is a wormer used on cattle.

That was freaking RUDE. With the avalanche of information available, - and the technicalities, and the slant on news and everything else - a person, any person is probably going to have at least a slightly different perspective on things than you do. That is no reason to start a fire - or otherwise offend another community member for whatever belief they may express. It doesn't matter what my political views are but in advance, I'm not what you called out. Wouldn't matter if I was. Doesn't matter who is and who isn't "right or left wing".
It is not necessary or respectful to belittle or alienate people for expressing thier thoughts non aggressively. Polarizing bitchiness is not constructive and nobody needs to find that here. Please take that back over to Reddit or Facebook because you pretty much told us that your an arrogant, name calling rag. Don't say your not going to.... When you just did - exactly what you intended to do with that dump.

This is part of the QAnon conspiracy theory, which is a right wing conspiracy theory. If you are promoting that theory, I can only assume you are a right wing conspiracy theorist, as your political views would indicate.
I am not going to respect baseless accusations which are KNOWN Russian propaganda. Here are US officials stating as much

Re: WHO announces pre-review of kratom for international drug treaties
No offense, buddy, but you wouldn't know a conspiracy if it fell out of the sky and started making out with your wife. Bill Gates is as evil as it gets. Is Epstein a "conspiracy" or a Qanon right wing blah blah blah? You're still on right wing left wing, chicken wing, so bring me a rose or leave me alone, as Lou Reed once said. You know Gates and Epstein were thick.as thieves, right? How can one NOT see a conspiracy when that's literally all the world is anymore? I'd like to hear YOUR world view. Everything is peachy? If.so I have some not-so-great news for you...
I understand not wanting to look into things and just taking them at face/media level. I was that way once. Then 9/11 happened and the floodgates of bullshit and lies related to the "official story" woke me from my, at that time, hopeless junkie slumber.
Also, what is a "known conspiracy" because the MOST known conspiracy, as far as I knew, was that the media is a very biased entity that is VERY tightly controlled (except for Mother Jones, I've found some really good stuff from them o'er the years.) I thought everyone knew that "conspiracy."
Not that I really care, just saying. Think what you'd like.
