small batch?

Post by Hulu2021 »

I guess small batch isn’t always what we think. I know what i mean when i say it, basically i’m looking for “fresher, smaller batch krätom”. I really feel like we need to have some term to use when describing what we are looking for from the vendors and likewise the vendors speaking to us.
I suppose we can ask; is this bulk. I just don’t think i can claim everything i but as “small batch” just cause it’s fresh seemingly to me. It would be nice if we had some distinction just so people know what they’re getting.
It any of you veterans want to school my ass in the comments, would be good

I think we use the term for something that it really isn't. Not trying to knock, but small batch has a specific meaning to most folks that think about it.

I cringe when I hear "small batch," - an Indonesian doesn't just dry 5-10k in their dry houses and send to a small vendor in a small batch. I compare this to whiskey and small batches like that, exclusive, unique. But some of the "small batches," we refer to are just 5-10k of larger 150-200k harvest. The rest is going to other "small batch," and the rest to the bulk vendors. There's very few vendors that get the full harvest and truly "small batch," in my mind, but all the ones I know are here on double m, and you've prob had some or most of them. A guy bagging 5-10k of a large harvest early, is just that, he/she is not really small batch to me. I'd argue the guy/gal buying 5-10k has little influence on the full harvest overall, and the uniqueness that would make a batch a small batch.

What that means is that a vendor buying a full harvest, and in my mind "small batch," gets the entire harvest. They get to say where to harvest from, which leaves to use on the tree, how much, how it's dried, any special industry specific processes that they want. Otherwise, the 5-10k guy doesn't get this input and is really just source hunting to find the supplier with the freshest and best harvest in the moment. There's a lot that affects harvest, humidity at the time, previous rainfall, temperature, stress on trees, etc... A full harvest would get influence on all these, not the 5-10k stuff. See TFH behind the scenes... That's small batch, most is exclusive to him and is unique based on their harvest requirements and special processing, I reference Chris, as he's got no shortage of YouTube vids that show what I think of with small batch.

Granted, the initial order is prob fresher than when the powder gets here in bulk on a boat perhaps, I still wouldn't really call this small batch. So you're on to something in my mind. Ie. Jack Daniels fresh at the distillery taste just a bit different than in does in Germany, etc... But a bottle of jack isn't "small batch," it's just a bottle of a larger harvest...

I think there's some accuracy in your statement, but at the end of the day 99% is bulk as you refer to it. It just may be at the beginning of its cycle or at the end. There are exceptions, and again, I think most are here on double m.

What venders besides tfh do you consider “small batch”

I really found your post interesting fused flora. I never really thought about it but your post makes since. I personally don’t know think it’s going to get much better than the stuff I’m getting from the vendors on this site but still have yet to try tfh sadly. This is kratom it can only be so good in my opinion. I don’t think small batch matters as much of lab testing but the best kratom I ever had was untested. As long as the mit content is above 1 percent I would say you got some good kratom with it being like weed strains. While some weed strains have similar thc percentages but different highs. That’s how I feel about kratom. Most batches even if they had similar mit content can feel very different. Thought I’m not that knowledgeable compared to most probably on here. Just my opinion. Kratom as a limit to how good it can be. I’m surprised they have the quality control they do for some suppliers considering how cheap kratom is in general. I personally wouldn’t even bother with something so cheap which speaks volumes for these vendors, and supplier’s.

I guess I’m confused. Small batch sounds like, as you said, 5-10k. Now, TFH is one of my favorite vendors, but I didn’t think they were small batch since they have a lot of inventory. As opposed to another vendor on here who says they are small batch and their inventory sells our relatively quickly.

In the case of, especially TFH, I would consider more so the term ‘selective batch’.

They introduce the aspect of ‘testers’, and rely heavily on their feedback when it comes to what batches they are putting on their menu. So instead of blindly buying, importing, and offering large amounts of “who knows how good this stuff is”…they are offering large amounts of stuff they already know is good.

Maybe there's a better way to present it.

1. You decide to be a vendor and order 3x K from farmer X (3x of a 500x k harvest), 2x k from from farmer Y (2x of a 300x k harvest), 3x K from farmer Z (3x of a 600x k harvest), 2x k from from farmer Y (2x of a 100x k harvest) for a total of 10x k. Because of the small order from the farmers, you have little to no say in the age of trees, area on tree harvested, time of season harvested, etc....

or

2. You decided to be a vendor and order a full harvest of 50x k from farmer X. You have total say on the age of trees, only using canopy leaves, pulling the bones out and having the leaves dried pointing down.

In these two situations, even though 1. is only 10x k, I think 2. would be considered small batch even at the much larger order size, as it would truly be unique and exclusive. Otherwise, anyone can order 20x k from Indonesia and just consider themselves "small batch."

Okay, that makes sense. I appreciate you breaking that down for me.

lol Yes. Claiming to be small batch ? just another marketing buzz word.

EVEN allowing it's possible to FIND a - what Gumby calls, "Farm to Table" supplier - How would a vendor know they're really harvesting canopy leaves, or hang drying the leaf ?? Those things are VERY labor intensive. Time and money. Very few vendors, even try to claim they've got actual hang dried - remember SoSa ? did, claim that, and he had quality kratom but I was always skeptical... As Gumby pointed out, photos are commonly faked, etc. TFH is the only vendor I know of, who actually hired drones to fly over trees, and went to great lengths to verify Indo's sales pitch. In particular, it seems drying racks are difficult to verify?

So I think, Direct Import is positive - A vendor may prove that he's really importing -VS- just buying Wholesale Bulk kilos domestic... which has been pointed out, due to Shipping issues, and cost, has become Standard Operating Procedure for the majority of USA vendors. It's hard to believe now, that ANY new "popup" vendor in 2022, is taking the risk of importing... Wholesale Distributors have some aggressive sales people, as you may know lol ..

A good word - Transparency - of which there's very little in this biz, everything's just the opposite - Secret. :?
