Kratom´s taste...

Post by Mythra Gina »

...has been described as horrible, making people want to puke etc... so before i first tried it, i prepared myself for the worst.
I don´t despise its taste, i ... like it, believe it or not. To me it just tastes bitter, like any medecine, herbal or synthetic.
Mind you, i have tasted worse, fly agaric is bad (aspecially with tons of it you have to eat), eaten Salvia D. is far more bitter than Kratom and
also the volume of fresh material needed... i never tried ayahuasca but can imagine how bad it´s taste is.

When i open my jar and sniff it, i go "yummy !" not "yuck !", probably my mind links Kratom´s smell/taste to its effects directly

Figured it must be me who is weirdo here, as general consensus seems to be kratom tastes bad...
Are there other weirdos like me, fellow Kratomites ?

Also, i basically just started with K cca 2 months back, didn´t tried a lot yet... I know Bentuangie is supposed to be fermented,
how would you guys describe its taste ? I know how fermented tobacco/weed smell/tastes... is it similar ?

I'm with you. I like the taste. It means sweet relief is upon me.

TOTALLY. When that bitter, sorta-perfumey taste hits me, my body says AHHHH

Hey guys, nice to see i´m not alone.

What about that Bentuangie taste... can someone describe it ?
Do you consider it more or less palatable than classic plain unfermented leaf ?

I've only purchased Bentuangie once and it was years ago so I can't speak on its taste presently. From what I've read it's usually a milder red vein, so I assume that it would have a hearty, more earthy taste that's a little less bitter than most. I need to sample the Bentuangie again. I just don't remember it having the effects I was searching for, so I moved on.

Hey Krattie,
from what i gather there are actually more Bent "strains", like Red Bent, White bent... makes sense, as it is supposed a fermented leaf. I too have read most folks consider red Bent rather mild... But i´ve seen mentioned White Bent as fire... so, considering i love whites during day, i can as well buy white Bent to test it out...
But fermentation kinda completely changes taste of any herb, so i try to at least get an idea what to expect, as my go-to White Sumatra is really tasty to me as it is ...

Any experienced Bent users around :?:

I've grown to rather enjoy the taste of some strains. I think it's mostly because my brain associates the taste with the relaxation I know is soon to follow the dose. Every once in a while though, I do get some pretty nasty/earthy tasting ones (red malay and red asia come to mind) that I prefer to mix with juice. I can get these more earthy ones down easy enough without the juice and have never gagged, but sometimes it is nice to have a strong juice/soda on hand to get rid of the aftertaste.

I live by sunny d/orange juice, absolutely can't dose without it. I must go through a gallon a week...that's alot of sugar.

Same as me, basically. You seem to know your stuff, so i am going to ask you specifically. I do understand that taste is highly subjective, but would you consider Bents more or less "tasty" than plain unfermented leaf ? I am sure i can T&W any strain ( i don´t use any juice or whatever to mask its taste),
but out of few i have tried, my white vain is probably tastiest to me. Can i gain something here by trying Bents ? I mean, if they ferment the leaf, they do it to
modify the taste itself, correct ? Fermentation probably wouldn´t change alkaloid profile much, so i´d guess thats the case...

To sum up, would you suggest trying White Bent to someone enjoying the taste of regular White ?
TIA

I toss and wash with OJ, lemonade and coffee and hardly taste it at all any more but the smell is associated with pain relief and is hardly unpleasant. I get the same warm fuzzy feeling that I get when I open a new package of coffee from the smell of kratom as I measure out my dose.

I'm not too experienced with bents overall. But they are fermented so I would imagine the taste would be slightly different than standard leaf. It's all subjective though. I've seen some people say it tastes better than regular kratom, and others say it tastes very earthy.

Yeah, taste is definitely subjective, what one user loves others may hate. Generally, i don´t see many Bent recommendations, so i am wondering why ?
Guess i need to bite the bullet and simply try some... just didn´t wanted to be disappointed :?
So meny strains to try... i just started with kratom, so far i only went through basics - red, green and white vein, to see whats up my alley - they all are,
effects-wise. I see whites and greens as perfect during day, and reds are great for evening. Taste-wise, whites and greens are my favourites, it all tastes like green tea to me  Reds are "earthier" for lack of better world, but i definitely like to try new stuff. I´m contemplating buying White Bent, as i saw at least one reddit user calling it fire... but then, lots of unimpressed users, mostly talking red bents... i am simply so curious to try it all i can´t decide what to get.
Guess i´ll try and post review so others like me will know what to expect
