My first post on this forum and it isn't even Kratom related. Noticed some of you are into the heavier stuff. I'd say they are heavy/hard rock/stoner rock. I think these are two of the best current bands around i'd also throw King Gizzard in there.

Yeah they are pretty good! During high school in the late 90s they played much heavier alt/rock type music heavily inspired by bands like Tool and Deftones. Despite only being in high school, they were extremely well known around the region. Then years later some of the members went on to do this side project, which is a bit more mellow as you can see. Not sure if they're still all together making music. One of the guy's sisters is a famous actress now who I also went to school with.

I really like Miley Cyrus' 'Flowers.' I haven't followed her music or career, but her cover of the Cranberries' 'Zombie' is faaaan-frickin tastic. And 'The Climb' is very inspiring.

Any prog metal/mathcore fans here? Gotta check out Car Bomb. Wild, wild stuff. Crazy time signature and tempo changes even between measures. They built their microphones from scratch too. All around cool. Each listen is a unique experience, and there is so much to be said about their style from a music theory perspective.

I am a musician also with a music page. I listened to your music and it is very original. I like your lyrics, and the changes you create. I played guitar professionally for many years. This website contains backtracks I downloaded and then added guitar. Mainly improvising over the changes and there is some rhythm guitar. I hope you enjoy. Everyone else is invited to give a listen.

Mark Farina made his name as a house dj, but totally switched gears for a sideproject, 'Mushroom Jazz,' which is jazzy with deep, danceable bass grooves. I believe there are a whole series.

When I saw him live and up close, he played some of his jazzy tunes for awhile after I asked. Nice guy.

LOL. Those Backtracks have a early 80's groove. That is when I was playing a lot. The music is of that pop/rock/blues/jazz LIVE time...fusion. Larry Carlton. ( all over youtube. ) I met him before he got famous. I was after his girlfriend, found out he played guitar, went to his house to show him up, and I was

Yea! I am listening to his Jazz grooves. Really nice. I can't believe some of his samples. Great name for the series "Mushrooms". I assume that it is him doing the "raping" with all the echo? I really like it....THNX!

uummm... i don't think there is any 'raping' going on on these albums, but there is 'rapping.' And I think he's not doing the vocals, but you'd have to check the track listings.

I've had the soundtrack for Bloodborne on a lot lately (more than usual, lol). The whole thing is great but this, especially, is one of my favorites. As a former mall goth, I'll always have a place in my heart for church organs and ominous Latin. 8-)

I mainly just listen to (Hawaiian) KSSK 92.3FM, 'Hits of today and yesterday,' so most of the songs are familiar and fun.

I never listen to my medium sized mp3 collection anymore.

I was watching a youtube vid on the music industry and artists selling out (some, like Bob Dylan to the devil, even, while in an interview). Music can hype people up or slow them down, and the words get into the subconscious; Jimi Hendrix (love him) mentioned that in an interview, and it's so true.

Some other artists even appear to have demonic ritual elements in their live shows, or even more.

There's lots of videos of Travis Scott at his Astroworld festival a few years back, and ten people died, many had weird reactions, loss of memory, he didn't even stop the show when people were telling him people were dying. A clip I viewed shows him telling everyone to raise their hands and give the finger to God...

Crazy music. There are a ton of talented and positive musicians, though, true gems.

I used to dabble in West African drumming (got the djembe to prove it lol) and, of course, drum circles at festivals and such.

I read something a well-known drummer wrote, he said you have to be very careful what rhythms you're playing under what
circumstances because it affects peoples brain waves and their moods, etc. I wish I had the exact quote, but this is close enough.

It was a caution to be mindful.

I've been to one, it was cool, but I think the repetitive beat can attract or eject bad spirits, so yeah, gotta be careful.

I'm in the middle of a deep dive into this group. Just finished the 7th of 11 albums and I don't think they've put out a bad one.

Think electronic world music. Some of it African inspired, some Middle Eastern. Really good stuff.

Something new to me. She sings in a made up language like Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance.

She's from California, the percussionist is from Iran and the oud player is Algerian.

Here's a live version first.

Does she have a specific message? Is the made up language stand for anything? Speaking in tongues (I am not sure if it's a spiritual gift or some kind of fit akin to Tourettes) is often divided into diff types of it.

Does she use the same lyrics each time or do they flow out differently?

ekova resonates middle eastern, but they're an american trio.

from wiki: Much of her vocalizations share the linguistic experimentalism/artistry of the group's name, with occasional Celtic, English, and Persian utterances floating in between largely nonsensical syllables, as well as influences from Irish and English folk music.

i get a strong middle eastern vibe, i guess from the persian-ic noises. We have a Morrocan resto here, I can imagine laying on a soft bunch of pillows, gnoshing on some grapes before a big platter of lamb chops and mint tea.

As she sings the songs, I wonder, if she makes some noises into 'words' as part of the song, or just a babble every time?

Speaking of Spotify and Dune, I made a Dune playlist. Thinking of the upcoming Part 2 of the movie and how
most of it will be set in the desert. Dune has always meant desert and the Fremen to me anyway, more so
than space/other planets/political shenanigans.

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/49GHN ... 8e645a4a50

There are quite a few 'Dune' playlist on Spotify since the first movie came out.
