Pluribus - Anyone watched it?

Post by herbalhippie »

We just finished the last episode this evening and I can hardly
wait for the new season which, unfortunately, will be at least a year
and possibly more.

Fantastic show and leaves a lot for philosophical type discussions.

Yes, I loved it! One of the best shows I've seen in a while. Severance is also really good. I have to say, Apple has the best science fiction shows of all the streaming services.

I'm considering watching it again. lol

One of the mods I work with on Reddit watched it twice every day. Once early in the day
and then again at night.

Severance season 2 was, whew....When it was good, it was GREAT. When it wasn't, it was wtf is this, and why are we wasting time here. Hopefully season 3 (and maybe 4) wrap it up nicely, it has so much potential to be an all-time great. Looking at you 'Mr. Robot', <cough> epic fail ending. *sigh*

What's it about, where does it stream from, how many episodes per season?

It's very well written. Off the top of my head, I wonder if eventually the surviving free humans decide to start operating farm equipment so as to harvest the vast wheat and corn fields. Once "dead" those crops should be considered "kosher" by Pluribus. Such harvesting could give those still free humans considerable leverage. They might be able to demand that the collective "ejects" a few select members in exchange for enough food to keep millions more from starving.

The dilemma of the Pluribus Collective not being able to feed themself sufficiently in a world of abundance, due to self imposed constrictions on their actions, is reminiscent of the problems Robots would have in Asimov's stories revolving around The Three Laws of Robotics. Clever workarounds could become part of the show.

In David Gerrold's Chtorr series there's an alien infestation that seduces a lot of people into joining into what amounts to a herd where they abandon their sense of self. And of course there's the Borg collective. My point being that science fiction has explored this territory in the past and a show as good as Pluribus wouldn't shy away from building on that.

----i have a feeling they'll try a few things. and in the end, just lick/spit on their food ha-ha. i mean, isn't that kind of how they got there to begin with ? obviously the free ones, are immune to the saliva of the drones. so reverse engineer the trap ? i dunno, maybe i'm just a lazy survivor.

There has only been one season of 9 episodes so far.

It's on Apple Tv+, exclusively, unless you find it elsewhere online. *ahem*

Thanks for the rec. I’ll be back here once I’ve watched ! I agree appleTV has some quality shows now. I love Severance. Such a great commentary on what life has essentially become for many Americans.

'Shrinking' season 3 (another Apple Tv+ show) just started 2 weeks ago. If you like dramedy shows, it's pretty darn good. Check the trailer and see if it's your kind of thing. 8-)

Just finished Pluribus tonight. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a looooong time so super grateful for the recommendation. Really made a week from HELL at the end of months of hell a little better. I’m sad it’s done lol. Such a creative idea that is actually semi-believable. Reminded me of ants.

I did try Shrinking once and just didn’t take to it, it felt a little too silly to me and as a very overly educated person who is sad about the world I have a hard time being amused, so it may be ME lol. Now that you said it though, I think we should give it another try.

Totally different show but I did kinda sorta enjoy Joe Pickett. If that’s your vibe.

I'm glad you liked it! It's going to be hard waiting a year and possibly two for the next season!
