Mike Bloomfield's Fender Telecaster - was the guitar used on many famous gigs and recordings: 65 Newport Folk Fest, Bob Dylan "Like A Rolling Stone" and Paul Butterfield's 1st.. maybe the most influential single guitar - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B4yavD9AEY

There seems to be alot of guitar players here. I like to take my dose and play guitar. Does anyone have some original music they would want to post?

I play lead guitar for my band Leper Shepherd. We call it Appalachian Ditch Punk/Southern Surf. Check us out on Instagram @lepershepherdmusic. We only have a demo posted to bandcamp, looking to mix and master some stuff soon and get on the road with some merch. I play a PRS SE-EG. wanting to put new, hotter pickups on it maybe some Lindy Fralins. Check us out! Hopefully coming to a city near you soon!

Is Appalachian Ditch Punk kinda like what we used to call cow-punk? I used to go watch Jason and the Scorchers at the Exit/In in Nashville all the time, they were Amazing to watch live!! :D

It’s our own thing, literally no one else says it lol. But cowpunk is definitely still relevant. A GREAT band we play with us called Fever Beam from Tampa FL area. They call themselves cowpunk.

I have always been captivated by the electric lead guitar. Starting with the trio of Yardbirds. Clapton,Beck,Page. So many great players from the 60s on up. I bought an inexpensive guitar and amp years ago. Since I retired Ihave been playing around with it a little.
My question to the players out there. Is this something I can teach myself? Or would you recommend a teacher, and taking lessons? How did you guys become good?

Absolutely you can teach yourself, I did. Learn to read guitar tabs and there's video lessons for free on YouTube. It'd just repetition. Ultimate-guitar.com has a million guitar tabs.

hey. That's where I started, bought a Yardbirds 45 back in the 60s. Got a guitar and learned every song on John Mayall's Beano album with Clapton. :D. Saw Jeff Beck live and Led Zeppelin live, several times each... Saw Alvin Lee TYA at the Fillmore. Johnny Winter at the Fillmore.

Thanks for the advice FB. I’ll check out the website. Thumbs up to everyone you named BD. I’m sure we could name dozens more from that era that are and were phenomenal.
On my bucket list is Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival.
I just couldn’t make it happen in September, financially. Seen everyone you named except for Eric and a Jeff. Alvin Lee was a beast

Cool, a guitar thread. I've been playing since age 14 ( getting ready to be 46 in a couple months ). I don't have another tour left in me at this age, but I think I got another album in me. Looking for musicians to collaborate with on a project ( Coffin Birth). Musical style is a mixture of death metal, black metal, classical music, and horror movie soundtrack. Would much prefer a 2 guitar band, since there is so much more you can do with 2 guitarists ( all kinds of intricate harmonies, counter-melodies, etc.......), so I basically need vocalist, bassist, drummer capable of playing double bass and blast beats, bassist, a keyboardist is optional. I also like the way male death metal vocals mix with sweet, operatic, female vocals. The aim is an atmospheric, symphonic, brutal, heavy, scary, concerto composed in hell type of sound. Have a couple songs written and some I can use from some bands I played in years ago since I wrote the ones we can use, and I collaborate well with others. I have contacts in the music industry, my own gear ( obviously ), and can get shows. Anybody interested? I'm ready to get this project going. It's gonna be loud, brutal, beautiful, heavy as fuck, and it's gonna rock.

Go for it now, man, asap.. In another 10+ years the landscape will change, goals must change at some point U gear down to unplugged, a few recording sessions and then playing a friends funeral, I just did one.. Getting hard to find any rock music on the radio now, it's all hip hop disco bs.. Of course if U have the money its like anything else, a fun but expensive hobby.. A few local jams which are full of 70s classic rock covers, lol  Hey if you're tapped into a couple of musicians who U can work with, at your age and talent level then strike while the iron is hot!!

Cool! Great to see some guitar afficiandos in here. I've been known to pick one up occasionally. I stop actively recording and performing back in 2012. I now build them in my spare time.

I usually go for building guitars out of unique wood combinations to experiment with tone. Definitely not specs available at your local guitar store.

The picture is one of my early projects which is a solid body, single pickup hotrod with a body constructed out of a single peice of solid kiln dried flame maple. The neck is solid dark (almost black) Indian Rosewood which compliments the maple nicely. She is heavy weighing in at just under 14 lbs but this beauty will sustain for days.
