Growing Kratom in Texas
Hey everyone, Clark here. I just wanted to share a little bit about my Kratom growing experience down here on the Texas Coast! It has been extremely rewarding and beneficial growing Kratom. I have learned so much about this plant and have the ability to experiment with various drying techniques and of course eating fresh-leaf to see how each way produces a variety of different effects. I encourage anyone that is able, to grow their own Kratom. My plants continue growing strong in these 40 degree cold fronts that we get in Texas and are pretty resilient Trees once they acclimate to an environment. They love the hot humidity here on the Texas coast for sure. Any temps lower than 40 degrees I don’t have experience in and I have to bring my big trees in or really wrap them up outside. Don’t want to risk loosing my babies! Here is a few photos of my Thai, Malay and Indo phenotypes!

Malaysian Phenotype holy moly, the leaf size!!!! So its true, might be elephant variety or something. Its like both of your hands can fit into it. It be nice to see your full hand pic on top of a leaf and how much leaf still sticking out? But great job, i am always very happy to see any one growing, such delight and a treat to see it in USA, i really hope once they are big enough they can survive freezing temps. Maybe 7+ year plant outside? or still bad idea? can a nice big green house hold some tee's? Just some idea's but happy to see these in Texas most pics come from Florida that i see maybe some from Cali. Do you feed any specific mixes? like to balance ph or any type of foods? it gets below 40 here, and my tree went bald but it will spring back up in march once i take it out after last frost. I just dont know what to feed it, its just regular soil in 5 gal bucket. Also any tips is always welcomed. Sexy tree's you got for sure. Wish i lived in warmer climates.

Brave777, thanks for the kudos! If you can build a small green house you would be golden. Put a lil heater out there on the cold nights! They LOVE liquid fish fertilizer. That will help your Trees get the dark green and super large leaves. Go get Alaskan liquid fish fertilizer from Home Depot. My Malay pheno is definitely my favorite since it’s so rare, but the others are just as amazing. I have probably 50 fully rooted clones in a grow tent indoors. Getting them ready to go outside when weather warms up. Those big leaves have been consumed, but next large set of leaves I will get a hand comparison photo for you! Those Malay leaves measured 11” x 7”. HUGE.

Nice, as i got barley any leafs on my tree and i heard you cant over water in cold or something so i dont water it for long. Just waiting for march. should i use liquid fish fertilizer when i bring them outside in march or they love it in cold too like right now? i just have them in house but in cold area. Last year i had no leafs on tree at all, i take it outside and in march it started to grow fast, next thing you know it was filled with lots of leafs. At first i thought it died. But if anyone has same problem just know, as long as roots not in freezing temps, i assume below 30f it should be still good. Mine over 6 feet tall. My Red Vein Kratom plant has been carefully grown from Kratom seeds obtained from Indonesia. It was approximately 4 to 6 months old. Was send in a box, i think from Florida. Not sure, i think its been more then 3 years now. But the green house is very tempting, i might do that with a small heater. wonder how that will turn out. maybe just keep it bush size by trimming extra away.

In those colder regions they will drop their leaves but of course come back strong in the Spring. Experiment and clone your plants and you can have some indoors, outdoors and move them around to find out what they can handle in your region! I use liquid fish fertilizer year round, it’s is vital to the health of the plant. They require high nutrients to get to their full potential. That is super cool you grew from seed. For sure in the green house you can cut them back for each harvest. They grow back heavy when branches are cut back. It’s crazy! I topped my trees before and they ended up putting out 7-8 vertical branches from the top node I made the cut at!

I was able to meet up with Clark the other night and get one of each phenotype! I lucked out and ran into him on a different forum and he happened to like 45 min away
I transplanted them and ordered a small grow light for the sub 50 degree days. Can't wait to see these babies grow! Welcome to the forum Clark!
