Usage Frequency - Daily, EOD, 2x Week Etc.

Post by dub12Nation »

So I wanted to ask about user's general frequency. It seems like a bulk of the folks who are active on reddit, discord and other kratom forums generally speak of daily usage.

I was a daily user for several years at a time over the past 10-15 years, with some years off and some intermittent use in there as well.

I've currently been using EOD, and it's sort of nice to know that I have that in between day to reset my receptors a bit, and that if some family trip or emergency or something comes up that I'm not going to have to go through complete WD's or anything (I get fairly bad kratom WD's), but just have maybe one or two mildly moody days and then be fine.

However I also notice that by using EOD I kind of set my self up for this pattern of feeling a bit like I'm just trying to simply 'make it through' my in-between day in order to get to tomorrow. I'm doing a lot of other work with meditation and being more mindful, and as I become more sensitive to that striation of thinking under the surface I notice this tendency; that every other day gets to be 'wonderful', but that in my off-day I'm just trying to 'make it through the day' to get to tomorrow.

I'm thinking I need to be a bit more aware of my actual on-days, i.e. is it really all that 'wonderful' compared to my off days? I mean sure, I feel the kratom glow and a bit buzzy and nice, but other times I feel slightly nauseous, maybe a touch of a headache, sometimes I go too far and need to eat a meal and lay down for a bit in order to restore balance. So is that on-day really as 'wonderful' as my mind makes it out to be, or is that simply the manifestation of my receptors shouting to be stimulated and then my psychology glorifying the memory in response to that?

Anyhow, all this made me want to ask the community - what different schedules have you played with over time? What have you found works best for you and why? What are you thinking about tweaking with your schedule currently?

Thanks in advance for any responses! :)

You may want to try hirsuta or something milder on your off days to help with WDs and making it thru...it seems that's becoming more popular for tapering and breaks

I'm very sorry; I don't know what EOD means: End OF Day? If that's it, I don't understand how this helps to re-set. Sorry I don't know all of the krarom dialect

But I remember this Topic, and it was, really, a great one: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2072

I do once or twice a day, but fairly low doses. I rarely go over 8gpd. I try to take a day or two off every week, but it's sometimes only a day or two off a month. Every six months or so, I try to take a week or two off.

Kratom withdrawals are definitely REAL, and of course we have lots of folks in denial.. As expected with any similar topic :D

Just being honest, anything that affects or even tickles, those mu opioid receptors.. there are mild issues with: habit forming, tolerance, and withdrawal. Just goes with the territory. :P And I don't buy the chemistry BS, nobody can take even a partial opioid long-term without somehow dealing with these issues.

We make decisions. We enjoy the effects of kratom enough.. it's helpful enough.. that we perform a trade-off on any downsides. Take action to deal with those sides.. whether it's frequent T-Breaks, and or "Less is More" just lowering the GPD... or deciding to go with recreational use pattern - occasional use, weekend warrior... / I did for many years, keep a variety of opioid analgesics - Oxys, Norco, even morphine.. for occasional use. Weekends Only! And I still have friends, who even chip on black tar heroin.. maybe 1-2 times a month.. are they playing with fire? Maybe :o

But it seems.... NOTHING is EOD ?? What is that? Either you're a regular, daily, user of whatever supplement or medicine... OR, you're a weekend person. I'd find the EOD thing, more a huge hassle to keep track of... And yes. Agree totally, you'd spend every single "off day" thinking all day about the next day?? :?:

Facts on facts on facts my friend. I had this argument on reddit with people who tried to defy science by saying they can take large doses of Kratom for months / years at a time and stop with ZERO withdrawal, literally nothing.
As you stated that's not how any drug that effects the MOR works. They would then describe they would feel moody and lethargic, well that is withdrawal effects, lol.
Now I will say that some may have less pronounced withdrawal effects, but they will still be there in some way shape or form.

As far as the OP's question, I think a lot of it is mental too. Just knowing you have something in front of you that can take your day from a 4 to a 10 can mess with you. I give you props for having the will power to do EOD dosing.
A lot of us including myself use Kratom on a daily basis and to be frank I can't see myself not using it everyday. There aren't any negative effects for me personally, if anything I have more energy and a better out look on things, so dosing everyday benefits me.

This is a great question, and, actually something that I was just curious about, myself. Since I've started using kratom as pain relief, I've used it daily (multiple times, daily). If I didn't, my only other option would be pain killers, and I refuse to go down that road. I've considered switching to EOD schedule, but, I've been a bit scared. I need to be functional every day, and without the help of kratom, I have a lot of trouble getting through my day due to pain.

I'm curious to see what others' experiences have been, with dialing back dosage, while dealing with chronic pain issues. I've heard great things about hirsuta, though, I've never tried it myself. It sounds like it may be a good option if you're trying to reset those receptors a bit, without having to deal with harsh WDs.

Daily 1.75gm usually 3X / day give or take a dose so avg 5.25 / day. last dose reduction was >2 ys ago.
Regular use 3 years, 7 months - because it has the most value for me this way.

Switching to a recreational kind of use pattern would not be beneficial without other adjustments that I don't know about yet. I'm happy with my current relationship with these tree lungs.

That's a general idea, not a rule or a schedule. Conditions change and the way I use this changes.

So target dose is the one you can manage and keep without needing to increase the average. The way I see it- tolerance occurs when I use more than I can make good use of and when I believe that underwhelming effects are evidence of tolerance exclusively. When close to target dose, if not overlapping doses often or crowding them too close, it's likely a different- very temporary reason.

2.5 grams usually 2 x day (morning and evening), but sometimes 3 x day if having a lot of pain or really dragging ass that day.

I do notice withdrawal symptoms if I miss morning dose and don't take anything until the night. For me, I experience leg pains and/or sniffles and rarely I'll get a headache. Withdrawals are for sure real but I'm sure nothing like what opioids would be like. I can manage my pain with Kratom so for me it's a no brainer to take this daily

I never go more then several days without a tolerance break supplementing agmatine sulfate. I learned the hard way.

True story: Taking one gram of kratom every day for one month had me going through nearly two weeks of restless, sleepless withdrawal symptoms. There is no one size fits all.
However I also notice that by using EOD I kind of set my self up for this pattern of feeling a bit like I'm just trying to simply 'make it through' my in-between day in order to get to tomorrow.
Yes - It's amazing how quickly the brain gets hard-wired in a short amount of time. I would change that pattern every now and then. You need a few extra days off to get a real assessment of tolerance and where the withdrawal symptoms stand after more then a 24 hr break.

I believe it. One gram is below my LTD, but even TWO grams of some decent green, twice a day = 4 gpd. I was getting up around 6+ So.. Currently doing a taper down w/ Agmatine at night.. Well the other night I skipped the agmatine/ forgot to take my magnesium/ Woke up with horrible RLS pain, lasted for an hour!! :(

So that's tapering down, doing 2 gpd, down from about 6.. I'm doing a week taper. Agmatine and cats claw at night.. Goal is to lower my effective dose, and, stabilize @ Daily 4 gpd or less.. I'm thinking, maybe a monthly 1-week Agmatine cycle, will do the trick!

Hard to imagine, going back to 12+ even 15 gpd. That was crazy :? I get better effects now, @ only a THIRD of that much.

I have thoughts about some of the things you mention about EOD use. I use typically 2-4 times a week, usually 2-3 but lately I've been overdoing it. I get the same feelings you do about the 'just trying to get through my off days'. Maybe they aren't physical, but I consider them a form of withdrawal...obviously the kratom use is starting to have some sort of adverse effects, even if its mental. I've found that if I go down to once a week or 1.5x a week (1x in week 1, 2x in week 2), that feeling mostly goes away.

But my overall thought on that is that if you are feeling that way, you are getting close to a point where you should choose to either use daily or not at all. For me, I don't want to live my life where 1/2 of my days are not worthwhile. I eventually lose motivation to achieve goals, and making it to kratom day is my only goal. I don't know what the point of existence is, but I believe that part of happiness is having long term goals and achieving them. I can't do that if I'm only my whole self 1/2 of the time.

This is absolutely not a knock on daily use. Many people do it and those people are generally productive and happy, maybe more productive even. Just for me, I prefer not having a daily habit so I try to straddle the line a bit, and I've learned a lot about where that line is. Every other day is not the sweet spot for me, its more like 1-2x a week.

I'm at twice daily. Plus I top off so I take 3g initially then take 1g an hour later so it's at least 8g a day, sometimes 10.

Need to take a break and drop my usage to 4 3g doses a week

I would prefer to take it daily then having an "off day" where you're unhappy, WD , pain etc
