Question for experienced tea drinkers
If I do a 6 gram dose (toss & wash) then how much would I use to make tea for a single dose? Is it pretty much a one to one conversion?

Re: Question for experienced tea drinkers
That's a damn good question, Blends.
I make a tea every now and then, either powdered or crushed leaf, but dosing it is always a guess, and pretty hit or miss as a result, so I save tea making for when I don't need it RIGHT NOW for pain relief. And I usually add a gram or two as well just to be on the safe side because I'll be filtering out the solids, but it never seems quite as potent as uncooked kratom to me. Go figure.
So I honestly don't know. I hope someone comes along with a great answer, because I'd like to know too!

Re: Question for experienced tea drinkers
I have found I have to almost DOUBLE the leaf amount when making tea. Even then it is still not as potent as "stir and chug" (to ME). I do enjoy making it from time to time though. I have lots of crushed leaf, so brew up a batch sometimes on the weekends. I actually enjoy the taste of the filtered tea, when treated like normal tea...(sugar and lemon for me)...I'm a Southern boy and make it like strong "sweet tea" over ice and sip on it all day while doing yard work. Keeps me going in the yard and the arthritis at bay. It has it's place.

I'm always cautious about how much I use, but now that you're actually giving it dimensions, that seems about right because my tea efforts usually end up half or less effective than my regular non-tea doses, and that's with the amounts amped a little bit as I mentioned. So doubling the amount makes sense. Thank you for this -- I'll definitely have to try it that way.I have found I have to almost DOUBLE the leaf amount when making tea. Two and a half grams will make about 3 to 4 mugfuls of tea for the average user of 2 to 3 grams, in my tutorial. You could probably go to five grams and use the same amount of water and get the same 3 to 4 mugfuls with the equivalent of a 5 gram dose. Each mugful is one dose.

I don't comment much on the semantics of it any more, because I'm done arguing about tea. I suggest answers when asked, but that's where it ends.

Re: Question for experienced tea drinkers
From what I understand, a little bit is lost in the process. I normally add an extra gram when doing tea, although I don't do tea too often... mostly due to my own lazyness. I prefer the simplicity of just mixing it with a little water and chugging it.BlendsAreMyFriends wrote:If I do a 6 gram dose (toss & wash) then how much would I use to make tea for a single dose? So if you were making a 6g dose of tea, you'd probably want to use 7g.

I make 15grams at a time and it works great. I use an etire water bottle (16oz) and I always check the temp of the water with a digital food thermometer. I want the heat to stay under 165°F. I use ajent citric acid to extract the alkaloids. Tea is the best way to take kratom IMO.
