This is the kinda $#!& That makes me really mad

My buddy asks me to take him to a headshop cuz they have kava there, and of course he bought some kratom even though we've been buying online. We walk in and there's a sign that says they're having a special on red jk (the only strain that has the special) and it's FIFTY CENTS A GRAM... I tell her you know we can get this same stuff for ten cents a gram online? And she swears this stuff is better.... So we ask how much the kava is... $175 for a half pound.... I'm like you have to know it's available for $33/q/2 lb online? And she's like "no no this stuff is better" and I'm like that's a mark up by multitude is what that is, no thanks.

I have seen so much goodness in this community, between people selling good kratom at a discount, people sending other people samples of strains they missed, and people giving kratom away for FREE to those in need. I am disgusted by these places that order kratom online in kilos, stick it in a glass jar, set in on a shelf and do a x5 mark up on it. That's not what kratom is, and it's not what the community should be. I could understand even a x2 mark up. But their SALE was a x5 mark up. Disgusting.

Anyways, I know this is super obvious to most but I really haven't been inside a headshop since I started ordering online. What an eye opener shopping online has been.

Yeah I feel you. That's infuriating, enough to make someone want to stand outside with a sign saying "you can buy online for 10x cheaper than this store." Unfortunately, too many people just seem to want to throw their money away. Tell them it's a sale, look I'm saving money!! I've actually heard someone say they'd rather pay the ridiculous prices in stores because they don't want to wait 2-3 days for online shipping.

Right on. Just say No thanks.. and pass the word. Kratom goes for .20 cents a gram, or Less, at the Quarter kilo level.. down to Ounces. Yes! of course, cost of shipping would be a factor just buying 1 Ounce online.. Head shops are like Convenience stores, 7-11 stores for kratom.

Lots going on, behind the scenes.. Many of these small head shops, are using kratom or kava as their #1 Money maker. They can't get margins on any other product really. Retail shops buy from Wholesale operators, who also get damn good profits. The whole stinkin' channel is now being pushed by AKA! Meanwhile.. it's an Election Year. Leafly has put out an Email on May 13: Cannabis banking reform included in latest Democrat COVID relief bill in Congress... this is HUGE. This would force banks to accept credit cards on legal Cannabis.. and surely kratom too. Hopefully next year, we'll have legal weed, across this USA? This is all true BUT I'm sure lots and lots of us were first exposed to kratom from a head shop. As I've said before, Choice Botanicals Green Maeng Da (at 1.00+ a gram, no less) helped me kick an IV heroin habit, with some OPMS Gold extract thrown in. Then I discovered kraken which led me to r/kratom, which opened MANY doors to me, kratom wise. SO, yeah, they're ripping people off, but are an important link in the chain. Desperation leads lots of sick addicts to.the smokeshop, Then good tbings happen and they move on. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Besides, in a pinch, they are good.to have around. USPS SUCKS these days!

I'm more disappointed that your friend would gladly drop the money. It's one thing when it's someone who has no idea where to buy kratom or what the going rate is, I think most of us got ripped off in the beginning. But when it's someone who should know better, that's just sad. And a store front does have a lot of overhead. I don't mind someone trying to make a buck, being foolish enough to support such a mark up - unless it's an emergency - is kind of ridiculous. Just sayin'...
