Mixing Strains

Post by Kckruse »

I'm learning to do mixes with strains. If y'all don't mind, what are some of your favorite combinations? And is there any method to ensure a good and effective combination? Thank you for your time.

A good effect would be something like 50% red and 50% white. Or 50% green with 50% red. Or sometimes you get a good blend with green red and white, all evenly amount mixed. Or if want only energy and not much relax/sedation just go for white and green. Very mild relaxation you can add some yellow to the mix. There is no right or wrong answer, trough trail and error you will learn, but once you hit a perfect mix mine then stick with it for a while until you run out of that batch then move on seeking for another perfect mine blend.

Sometimes I stumble upon a "greater than the sum of its parts" / synergy type result from blends. I had some Wild Crafted Ivory Indo from TFH (sample) that wasn't very useful for me on its own. But mixing something like 50/50 or 60/40 with some Botanical Bunny Yellow lot 12 (batch #2003) improves on what they both would do individually.

To me the decisions are less about the colors and more about considering which positives might balance out other batches' absences. Sometimes a fast batch works better tweaked to be a bit slower, by mixing with a mid spectrum kratom.

I have tried so hard to find rhyme or reason to this. Sadly there is none. But I have noted some consistent truths when mixing...

A) If I mix too many, I always get the same type of burn. This isn't bad per se' but predictable and underwhelming. Simple is better for more distinguished results. Since most strains are blends to begin with, I venture to guess this is why I bump into this "same-ee" sort of result often and won't usually revisit.

B) My favorite blends are mostly 1 part fermented something + ________. I will sometimes allocate particularly fermented strains just for this.

C) I like opposing durations. Something with ridiculously long legs is an asset in blending for me because it is harder to come across.

D) Extremely well rounded leaf's will overwhelm most blends and thus I use a lesser proportion. EXAMPLE: TFH Wild Crafted Gold or Denette's Green Fire will dominate a burn at 50/50 for me so I'll go something more 30/70. But to be honest, either example is sort of what a great blend also feels like to me to begin with so I just wouldn't pick these.

E) Some vendors in particular, have strains that blend better it seems. For instance, in recent history I found everything from Rhino Remedies last drop to blend extremely well together. Great results every time so long as I let them play together with one another  Seriously though, premium red horn and yellow borneo together should have had it's own name!!

I can't imagine this info to be terribly helpful because it is only what truth I've discovered for myself. At the end of the day, the only way to navigate these waters is to sail the ship yourself with what is in you're cabinet and TAKE NOTES.

My main stick to been for a while is White banja old batch with super green borneo from smileys, 50% 50%. Perfect pick me up morning blend and work start mood blend... Another one is KTC red borneo 50% with many great other green or even white 50% vendors products. But i been testing many different vendor blends and my down sides i never write them down so i forget, i wish i did but i am short on time each time i want to do it.

The white banja from liza old batch is so clean feeling and clear headed and some focus punch to wit and a bit of super green borneo from smileys adds the legs to it with slight steady perfect mood. On its own they both are alright but combined was a perfect blend.

The best time to test, is after least 16 hours break, its hard to feel any difference in any blend if you dose every 4 hours, good luck with that. you might be able to tell the difference but not much. learn to extend time before testing blends, if you have to feel the pain and wd's. the blends will stick out better and sharper. Or push to the limits when you cant take it anymore and have the need to dose....

Like always you can easily extend the break to 3 days with the right herbs, vitamins and all the feel good stuff alternatives.

These are the two main ways that I blend! It’s cool that I am not alone in this!
