By request, I'm starting a thread for this information. I'm also interested to hear other people's experiences.

I have a couple kratom trees that are almost 8 years old, as well as some newer plants. I figured, even though it won't be like Indo kratom, it'll be fun to grow and mess around with (plus, better than nothing, if worse comes to worst).

I've been trying to replicate the environment (not too hard, in FL) and nutrients to which said trees would be accustomed. Plus, when it's time to harvest, Gumby has got me stoked to experiment with drying techniques!

Every plant vendor I've used has been at least pretty decent, and I believe the most important aspects come throughout the tree's life, anyway.

I hope this is a good start; I'll try to add more, and answer questions, too.

Awesome. Been thinking about growing a couple myself just for fun. Who are some good sources for kratom genetics here in the US? Did you say you've been growing your plants for 8 years?

There really are only a few out there: Bumblebee, Rifat Thai, Indo, Kali, Malay, and maybe one or two others. I doubt the genetics, but I think if you can replicate the environment, you might get a semi - okay leaf. Granted, it's nothing compared to the real thing, but still...

Yes, my oldest are 8. For the longest time, I was afraid to put them outside with the bugs and such! I've still got them potted, because I basically have gross sand everywhere, but when I find the optimal placement (just bought a new house), I'm going to set up another garden - just for the trees.

I know there are others here that are pros compared to me. I hope they join in!

Hey guys! Good to see some fellow kratom cultivars out there. I've been growing kratom trees for about a year now. I know of 3 very good sources for seedlings/clones.
I successfully propagated over 100 seedlings from seed in the spring. It was wayyy too many to manage on my tiny back porch at my apartment...lol. My seedlings are thriving though. Ill try to post some pics when I get home.

There is a theory that clones of clones of clones (multi-generational clones) aren't as good as seedlings. Haven't read any facts on that, just anecdotal evidence from one of the vendors I bought from.

Love to see Jestrices 8 year old plant pics as well if ya got any. I can tell you ive literally rooted over one million clones of another plant being a farmer and clone vendor in socal/norcal the past 30 years straight. Think im gona grab a couple high quality kratom cuts if i can find any good genetics

Wow, I'd ove to try my hand at seeds, but I didn't think there's an easy way to do so. I've always heard it's difficult, and they have to be extremely fresh. Where do you get them from?

I'd say they're about 10 ft tall, mine are. I had to cut them back because my (idiot) husband got too crazy with the fire pit. 12 ft away, and he still managed to scorch them. I could've killed him! They're looking good now, though. Just working to make them fuller.

I know that florida rooted sells cuttings and rooted plants, ive been wanting to order some for years im just scared they will die in transit or as soon as I get my hands on them; i have very limited greenthumb skills as of right now. I know they have rifat, bumblebee, and indo plants for sell but they sell out very fast of the rooted plants each year

Yay jesstrice you did it! I will just be here to absorb as much info as possible. I hear florida is a pretty good place to grow in the usa bc of the climate, I live in northeast ga so I'm not so sure how great they would do up here. Me and my gf just bought our first house this year and I always wanted to plant some trees when I had my own yard to do so.

Naw i ship clones and receive them. Have for years. Trust me they'll make it. Unless it sits in well over 100 degrees for several hours in transit. Which august is known for. But sept on youll be fine. Clone shipping containers are designed very good these days. Im gona go ahead and order some as soon as i figure out who has the highest quality genetics. Gone grow mine indoors where the environment is easy to mimic Indo

I have three seedlings from kdawg. they are thriving .and are about hip high currently( recieved them when they were smaller than. my pinky)
highly recommend growing your own.

Corde, I've learned (and already suspected) that my trees were utter crap, in comparison to others'. It's a little embarrassing, but I'm glad you had me start this thread. I now have the ambition and resources to make some major improvements.

I'm going to order me some plants as soon as possible. Does anyone have any reccomendations on where to buy some good plants with good genetics. So how long do they need to be kept inside to grow before they will be big enough to plant and survive outside? Will ot kill them if they are exposed to below freezing temps? It is super hot and humid here most of the time, but a few weeks our of the year it gets pretty dang cold and usually snows at least once a year

I got mine like 4 years ago claimed it was started from a seed, its still in 5 gal bucket, but every year i thought its dead since all leafs fall off, but dont let that ever fool you, as long as roots are good it always came back to life. worst thing can happen is some branches dry out and die, which happened, but you will have new shoots and new once if that happens so just cut dead branches off. I am careless when it comes to taking care of it but it proved me it is extremely survivable. I highly recommend everyone to have one. Imagine if all the kratomites had one, in 5 or 10 years this could do a lot of good to all the states and people. Its like what Jesus thought, be the salt! i know i know, bad example but you guys get the point. Recently i thought about building a green house that is not expensive slight tall just for the tree, anyone got good idea's? i want to see the leafs year long, winter and summer, in summer i will open it and in winter i want to close green house up with few buckets of water inside since i heard water e vapes and keeps humidity? Any way any thoughts is welcome, also some branches on my tree slight long and i dont know what to do with them, i am bad at starting new shoot plants, since i tried and failed.

Mytreesoflife and Texas Kratom Co are where I got all of my new ones from. They were both amazing! The packaging was perfect, and they both came with detailed instructions on how to acclimate /care for the plants. I only kept them inside for 7-10 days, since the humidity outside is high.

In addition to the care sheets, they were both knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They'd be happy to answer questions.

Has anyone figured out what stimulates alkaloid content with kratom plants? I've read it can take up to 2 years or more to reach peak alkaloid content I'm wonder if there may be a way to speed that up similar to how people figured out growing high potency marijuana in hydroponics quickly.
