Today I found a bug!

Lets be honest here, how many times you mix your kratom and you see a black dot circle blop up to the top? Well i did today, i scooped it up with a spoon. Realized it was a small black bug with wings. If i see it then there is no way i am going to jug that down. If i don't see it or add it to smoothie, i am fine about it because i don't know if i consumed something or not. How many did you see this year alone? I seen like 4, so far and thats only if i looked. I think its more common then what people think. some of them are really Godly batches as well, it can happen in any batch.

I find it's easy to find hairs in kratom if you put it on the countertop and spread it out/chop it up with a card (not making a drug reference). It makes the hairs easy to spot and the kratom doesn't stick to the counter. If I do find a hair I tend to think it's my own eyelash or facial hair. Cat hairs wtf

I never usually look though, ignorance is bliss. Can I ask what vendor's kratom you're find all the bugs in?

Mine was KTC, i almost ran out of Red Borneo that was talked about a lot here, but first time at the bottom of the batch bag seemed to find one tiny black bug. i mean its so tiny if i didnt look i would not notice if i was in a hurry. I wonder if everyone now will stare into abyss looking for bugs?

I did order Red Maeng Da a while back from KTC, i dont know how they sort it out but seems their sample and everything from them is really decent. Maybe the price is the only issue but if want some above average a def good place.

yeah I gave up looking, after > 1 whole year using a super-fine 80 Micron Sludge Filter, that's enough to catch any hairs... I found like 2 hairs in that year. Maybe just lucky, or buying quality leaf, but... iirc once I found a tiny pebble. A few times I found what appeared to be, pieces of rice, not whole grains but little white bits.

So I gave up the Filter. Still do 3-Step Prep of course... Anyone's interested, here is my Reddit article from 3+ Years ago: Powder Sludge Filters

I’d be grossed out on the cat hair though. I’m super allergic to cats. Are there vendors who pack with cats (or any pets) in the room? If so, that’s pretty nasty tbh.

I haven taken Kratom for 7 years and have never found a bug! There’s something new.

And the cat-like fibers aren’t from cats. They are part of the Kratom itself. Sometimes it is a strand from a stem or leaf, and they are usually light in color...I have had them with multiple vendors. It’s all part of the Kratom experience!

But I keep mine either in the original package and sealed with several binder clips, bag the bag with zippered freezer ziplock bags, then in storage bins or tote. OR I keep it locked airtight in a mason ball jar. The best one to get is the color “Amber” since it protects Kratom from the harmful effects of the sun and UV light.

I am a little OCD about my Kratom, and have a list of what I have in a Kratom journal. Everything is meticulously labeled to include batch date, etc, sometimes I reorganize their placement depending on color strain, but lately I switched to slow, midspec, and fast...I am going to stop now because I think my private Kratom rituals start to get creepy.

I love Kratom so much. But if I found a moving (or dead—moving seems more terrifying) BUG in my Kratom—I am freakish about insects and a germaphobe. It could be the best batch of vintage Kratom in the whole bloody world, but it would get tossed, dragged outside and thrown in a public bin. Seven years, so far, so good. 8th year better remain the same.)

PS: what did you do when you found the insect?

Reality check = if you are taking kratom you most likely have consumed things like ground/crushed up bugs, human hair, animal hair, dirt, soil, sand, bird feces, bug feces, germs, gunk from bottom of people's feet, the leaf you use is handled by people who dont always have proper bathroom etiquette (wipe with left hand), etc.

Just the nature of things. If you dont like that then you'll have to grow your own kratom trees so that way you are personally handling every leaf you use.

The truth is there's a legal amount of rat feces in peanut butter and a ton of other foods. There's just no way they can feasibly keep it 100% untouched. It's in everything. A bug or two would be a nice break.

If you eat any kind of candy with a blue shell (like M&Ms), you are eating bugs. The blue dye used is derived from bug parts. Yum!

Also, I learned a really gross thing about bread which totally turned me off of it and I wasn't able to eat a sandwich for months. If you buy packaged bread at the store (like wonder bread), it is baked using amino acids extracted from HUMAN HAIR. This isn't true for fresh baked bread from a bakery, but it is prevalent in all kinds of mass produced bread products that need a long shelf life.

Ok so i decided to add something else to this subject, Do you guys add any sweeteners to your kratom? I do, honey! sometimes i forget to close honey lid and anything get in. I found one ant drowned in honey, i mean i could of possibly picked up the small bug from my own honey jar and blamed the poor vendor.

My point, if you do add anything to kratom

make sure your water, hot? is clean. Any sweeteners you add make sure it has nothing in it. And when you stick you spoon in to mix make sure it has no cat hair on it.

If true, this is some next-level "using everything of the pig including the squeak." I find this hard to believe and, yet, I have seen some awful awful things. I love bread. I love many things that share some truly disgusting origins. Ever heard of Casu Marzu? I have an old friend whose grandfather lived for that stuff.

And then there are the countless paleo diet bros I have encountered. "We are only meant to eat meat because we were hunters once (once-upon -a-time )...." Hello, my man. Know how we sustained ourselves between hunting trips? We ATE BUGS. Lots and lots of bugs. And if I were squatting in a cave and hadn't eaten in a week you better believe I would go out and scoop up all of that delicious helpless protein. Nom Nom, crunchy.

And, oh lawdy, these past weeks I have pondered the coming months and years and wondered "Even when the food banks run out will we be able to put a sandwich together?" I think so. We're going Mega-shopping for the first time Tuesday and I'm gonna buy every packaged loaf of hair-ridden bread I can get. And I'll blend up some bug filling if it comes to that. The only thing I don't think I could eat is .....another..... human. But I have never been that desperate before .

Ever since someone told me that hot dog is left over of pig, that's why you feel those crunchy pig nails when you eat them. Starting same day i have never eater a hot dog weenie. I think i turned away two people by accident who dearly love Costco hot dogs.

Actually, it's the Red M&M's that use dye derived from something called a Cochneal insect. The dye is called Carmine. I think some companies switched from using it to something else. But it's perfectly safe as the dried insects are boiled before extracting the dye. The aluminum they put in it is probably worse for you by far.

And as far as I know Hotdogs are made out of all the unwanted parts of animals, from my understanding. Except Kosher hotdogs which obviously don't have pork and apparently only use the front part of the cow, I just found out. This thread got me interested in confirming things I've read and heard in the past.

I am so glad you posted this! I was scrolling down this post, and thought to myself "gee and here I thought these little "hairs" were part of the leaf..." atleast you agrees with me!

At any rate, it feels better to think of it as parts of the leaf rather than animal hairs!
