Aren't there lots of Asian Russians, like near Mongolia and Kazakistan and China? Russia is the hugest country ever, across two continents.

I read the Nightwatch series by Sergei Lukyanenko and the attitudes of the characters seem so bleak and accepting sometimes, but they keep working and doing what they have to do til the inevitable end when good usually wins but the bad guys frequently come back.
They made a movie too, which was the largest and most expensive Russian movie made up until that time.

This was in 1956. I'll tell you the story, I don't mind. My mother was married and had an affair when her husband was gone. Which led to me. She actually had 6 and possibly 7 babies and GAVE THEM ALL UP. I have found a half sister and a half brother, both deceased, and the first name of another sib but I don't know if she's half or whole.
My birth father's family came to CA from Alberta, before that they were in the Ukraine. I have the name of the town written down somewhere, I don't remember it.

My aunt and uncle have a biological son and adopted daughter from Korea. Another aunt and uncle have a son from in vitro and an adopted daughter from Korea. My sis and her hubs adopted a boy in Colorado, he's Hispanic white. So cool to be adopted!

Re: Any Russian people here ?
I don't think adopting from Korea is easy, they are a modern country.
My sis had a hard time adopting her son in Colorado, he was taken away from his bio mom who had other kids taken away from her and was doing drugs, and his bio dad who was in and out of jail and on drugs, they weren't a couple anymore either. So my sis was fostering him since he was just a few months old, and they wanted to adopt him but over and over the court gave chances to his bio parents to get healthy to get him back, but finally after 3 years the court said the parents lost their rights and my sis and her hubs could adopt him. They had the fight of a lifetime to get him, he is so lucky they love him so much.

Re: Any Russian people here ?
There are a lot of Russian emigres an hour and more to the east of where I live. I was working in a hotel where a work crew of Russians would stay during the week. They'd sit at breakfast and eat and chat and one day they sounded like they were planning on taking over the world. A bunch of guys speaking Russian can sound INTENSE. I asked them what they were talking about and he holds up a bible and says "church!" I really liked this crew, they were a bunch of sweeties.

I'm not Russian, but I've been to Russia twice and visited much of the former soviet union as well(Transnistria,Ukraine,Turkmenistan,Uzbekistan,Tajikistan & Kyrgyzstan). I tried to learn the language, did the lessons on Babbel for about 2 months and sadly got too busy with other things. I also love several russian/soviet bands like gunesh ensemble, DDT, grazdanskaya oborona,firyuza,ploho...

Recently there was a lawyer who worked in Hawaii and some mainland states and was taking bribes to find them babies to adopt. Most of the babies were from Micronesia. He was breaking some laws and ripping people off, eventually got caught.

Yo! Even thought i understand Russian/Ukrainian , if i ever visit Russia i don't think they will think i am Russian. I grew up here in USA, thanks to my mom and her teaching me Russian ABC book i am able to understand Russian better but cant write. I try to once in a while to watch a Russian movie or a show, that way i don't forget the language. I already know some family's who parents speak fluent but their kids are 100% English, maybe they can say Hi or Bye, that's about it. I heard others think Russian language sounds harsh and in some ways i agree. It not an easy language.

Saw the comic book movie Black Widow and there is lots of Russian dialogue.
Good movie too! Actions scenes were beautifully choreographed, car chases not boring, sexy women, I like how the Russian sleeper agents admit that their undercover family in Ohio at the beginning of the movie really meant something real to them and they loved each other in a way. Alexei was funny.

I do not know a word of Russian but my matrilineal family is from Poland. The closest I get to speaking Russian is in translation. In Undergrad, I did an independent study over winter session studying Russian Literature. It was great. Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekov, Nabokov and more! Poetry, especially Anna Akmatova. Before I got sick, I always taught her poem 'Requiem'
