Kratom + Vicodin

Looking for information when taking Kratom and you add Vicodin.

Background - I've been taking Kratom for over a year with good results. In fact I've lost all desire to take Opioids and use exclusively Kratom for a multitude of reasons (chronic knee pain, insomnia, mood lift, etc...). Last night while walking my dog I fell (feet went from right under me as I hit a slippery batch on sidewalk), landed right on my back and staring up at the sky. After the initial shock of how did this happen (it happened so quick) that I got up and continued on my walk only to realize within the first step that my knee was killing me. I managed to limp through the rest of the walk with my dog seemingly knowing i was slower as he slowed down and didn't pull ahead like he usually does. When I got home my knee was hurting to the point I couldn't bend it so my wife gave me a Vicodin (left over from a dental surgery I had last year). Keep in mind I had taken Kratom earlier in the evening so wasn't sure of the effects.

Questions
1. MY initial question before taking it was, would it do anything as I've been taking Kratom for a year? I was thinking it was so similar that I would have built up a tolerance. I was wrong, the Vicodin knocked me out. But not sure if the effects were enhanced because I took both? I don't recall Vicodin being this strong but it's been awhile since I took one.

2. Now I'm wondering the dangers of combining the two? I'm still in pain and haven't taken anything this morning yet (Kratom, Vicodin, or otherwise). Not sure if taking both together is dangerous? BTW, I take around 5g mostly once a day but occasionally on weekends (like yesterday) I'll take it once in the morning and again in the evening.

3. Anyone else have a similar experience where you've taken both? Results?

I mix them almost every day. I use kratom as an adjunct to Vicodin. I'm allowed two 5 mg pills per day. I take the Vicodin and then wait an hour and then take .75 gram of Kratom if I need both. If I'm having a really bad pain day I'll do that first thing in the morning so I'll be good for work, then another dose of Kratom around 10, then another dose of Kratom around 2, and then a vicodin and another dose of Kratom around 6.

I used to take V's and P's daily for lower back pain. Once I started kratom, I quit all pain meds and OTC's. About a month ago, I had severe headache. Kratom doesn't help for my headaches so I tried V and it did NOTHING. and I was in severe pain everywhere so it was not working for my back either.

I heard from lots of people that the two do not work together. Totally did not for me.

I'm the opposite, I use hydrocodone as needed, with kratom.. and that's rarely now. I did take Norco 10's last week after dental surgery. It totally blocked out the pain for several hours.. Better than kratom alone. But seemed to blunt the normal mood lift or euphoria from kratom...

My history is doing vicodin, aka hydro - mostly Norco but some Perc - for 10+ years after a back injury.. But I always took breaks after 2-3 days. Forced myself off the stuff, knowing the 3rd day here comes a headache! Anyway - long story short I found kratom a couple years ago and switched!

Even on the days when I don't take hydrocodone, I still dose at .75

I've noticed that kratom effected my opiate tolerance and opiates effected my kray tolerance.

Thought I would try it. Never again. Feel like you wish you could puke and don't puke. Wish you could sleep it off but too sick. Just kinda sprawled out limp and melted, propped upwards on something don't want to budge. Bluh.

The odd thing is I am a narco vigilant.
If I have surgery and they give me a bunch of morphine, I wake up and turn into groucho marx. Animate and active, cut on or not.
They always have to give me a combination of two, if I'm supposed to be quiet or sleep from it. They told me morphine doesn't affect me the same and by itself, they would have to give me a toxic amount.

But that teaspoon of red borneo and one 10/500 messed me up and laid me out.

The good news is my knee is feeling better so no need for Vicodin any longer. I will say the effects, both for pain and lift, seem amplified while taking both Kratom and Vicodin. Now some of that could be my tolerance for Vicodin is low due to not taking it for a long time but compared to just Kratom it was definitely enhanced.

For the record, I'm not encouraging anyone to combine the two.

I thought opiates and kratom took up the same pain receptor in the brain, i.e. you could take one or the other at the same time, but not both?

Maybe it would be different for me if I were taking 10 mg instead of 5 mg vicodin, and 2 grams instead of .75 gram kratom. I'm taking relatively low doses of both, maybe that's why it works for me.
