Magnesium
What type of magnesium do you like to take with your dose for potentiating? And does it help with constipation as well or so you use a different magnesium for that? TIA.

Re: Magnesium
Are you talking about Magnesium Citrate? Never used Magnesium of any kind to potentiate but Magnesium Citrate certainly will cure the constipation problem that can come with Kratom.

Re: Magnesium
there’s a bunch of different kinds and all four different things. @fusedflora has a thread out about it for potentiating but I’m not sure which one to use for that. I’ll check out the citrate though since it’s at least good for one thing, thanks!DylanJames wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 2:02 am Are you talking about Magnesium Citrate? Yes. Magnesium Citrate definitely helps with what I call 'glacial poops' (slow moving).

Re: Magnesium
I am in no way an expert on magnesium , but from my limited understanding it sort of works like this; Magnesium supplements have issues with how well they absorb. Magnesium citrate does not absorb well in the gut, and having too much unabsorbed magnesium in your gut can have a laxative effect. If you are taking magnesium for the laxative effect , then magnesium citrate is what you want. If you are looking to get actual levels of magnesium up in your body you want a CHELATED magnesium. Chelated is preattached to an amino acid carrier to help it absorb better. There are different kinds of chelated magnesium , which I don't understand all the differences .Magnesium Glycinate, Malate, & Taurates are often mentioned as chelated magnesiums with higher bioavailability. Well absorbed magnesium supports GABA receptors somehow, which can help with nerve, anxiety and sleep problems, and other things; cardiovascular etc. or so they say. I don't know anything at all about magnesium as a potentiator.HeatherLelane wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 3:32 pm

Re: Magnesium
Oh wow. Thank you for the in depth information. It's nice to know why MG Citrate works so well. Years ago I would take massive doses of Loperamide when in withdrawals from some nasty stuff. No matter how much I took, MG Citrate flushed everything out with no pain to speak of. Just liquefied it.DittonW wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 5:33 pmI am in no way an expert on magnesium , but from my limited understanding it sort of works like this; Magnesium supplements have issues with how well they absorb. Re: Magnesium
2 of the articles cited say 'magnesium sulfate', so that kind I would guess ?
I'm no expert, but I've always been under the impression that the different kinds of magnesium are for different "uses", and the chemical they are bound with helps them absorb properly for a specific use. Ultimately though, it's all magnesium, so it should "help" regardless. *shrug*

Re: Magnesium
Well, these are mice....And it says "intraperitoneal pretreatment", which Google would have believe means they injected it directly into their stomachs before testing. So I'm gonna go with zero minutes ha-ha. Also, you are not a mouse, and please do not inject magnesium into your stomach directly. I would think 10-15 minutes would be sufficient if taken on an empty stomach.HeatherLelane wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:41 pm THANK you! Do you know if you take it a half hour before dosing or with it?
Personally, I take magnesium citrate with a meal, just to keep things moving along if you will. Never tried it for potentiation, or taking it with kratom. I doubt it would matter, but let us know if you get any interesting results.
